2011 is less than a week away and this is the right time to think about some resolutions for the new year or at least for January. In this post, we’ll have a look at 5 things you can do to become more tech savvy and productive at the same time.
1. Start using Google Chrome
If you haven’t been using Chrome already, this is the best time to do it. Firefox is awesome and I believe that a healthy dose of both these browsers would be perfect! After you install Google Chrome, make sure that you read some of the articles linked below to make Chrome more efficient.
A lot of us (even the geekier ones) don’t realize the importance of backing up important files. I use Dropbox to sync my stuff and it works out for me. Mozy and SugarSync should be great alternatives. If you can afford an external hard-disk, you should definitely consider getting one. I highly recommend that you read ‘Six Things You’re Yet To Back Up and How To Back Them Up’ by Shankar Ganesh for more clarity.
3. Ditch Windows XP

If you are still using Windows XP, this is the best opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7. With sites like Amazon offering great discounts you can get the OS for a very good price. If you think you can survive with “JUST” the Internet, without the need for legacy applications, you can make the switch to Ubuntu.
4. Get a Smart Phone
This is going to be my resolution for 2011. With Android and iOS getting new apps every day it’s okay to be jealous. Take the plunge and get yourself a neat Smartphone.
5. Stop Pirating Security Software
If you are one of those with a CRACKED Norton Internet Security on your PC, do yourself a favour and get Microsoft Security Essentials OR other similar free Antivirus software. In my opinion, the free alternatives are a lot better in protecting you than the paid ones.
If you are still finicky about using a Premium security suite. Check out our giveaway of Panda Cloud Antivirus Professional where everyone gets a key.
