Rescue your PC from AVG’s Recent Update

Windows 7 64-bit PCs protected by AVG 2011 (Free/Premium versions) have been left with a very unstable system after a recent update (3292) from AVG.  Computers have been restarting endlessly leaving users desperate. In this article, you’ll find what you need to do to fix your PC.

Follow the steps below:

  • Download this file.
  • Extract it to a USB Flash Drive that has at least 300MB free space.
  • Reboot your PC from the Flash Drive and let the rescue operation work. (You don’t have to change any of the preferences on screen).
  • When asked to press any key, do so and the script (which is apparently the fix) executes.
  • After your PC reboots, it should be back to normal.

I had to do this on my friend’s laptop today and was able to get the PC working properly. If you have doubts, I recommend you have a look at the video below before moving on.

If you are… well, fed up with AVG. I recommend you have a look at Microsoft Security Essentials or even better, participate in the Panda Cloud Antivirus PRO giveaway in our blog to get yourself a new software.
