The New Twitter works fast and scores on almost every other category over the Old Twitter. But, there’s one huge flaw! There’s absolutely no way to be notified about a DM (Direct Message) you receive. In this article, we’ll have a look at a workaround (in Google Chrome) which will make sure that you’ll never overlook another Direct Message on Twitter.
- Install the Twitter Notifier Extension on Google Chrome and grant access to it using the Twitter OAuth window that pops up.
- Type chrome://extensions in the address bar.
- Navigate to the Twitter Notifier extension and choose Options.
- Go to the Settings tab and Uncheck Notify for Tweets and leave Mentions, DMs and Sticky DMs checked. If you don’t mind getting distracted with a tweet notification whenever Chrome is open, you can leave ‘Tweet’ checked too.
Doing this ensures that you get a notification on the right bottom of your desktop whenever there’s a DM or a Mention waiting for you. If you are too popular, you might want to leave the Mentions unchecked too.
So, Will you miss a DM again?
