Expect Chrome OS Netbooks to arrive by June

This is exciting news! Netbooks running on Chrome OS will debut by June this year.

Earlier this month, Google had announced that the Cr-48 Netbooks’ distribution to testers are over and that was the hint. PC Makers Acer, Samsung and Asus are currently working towards releasing Netbooks that are pre-loaded with Google’s cloud based Chrome OS. I think Chrome OS will be commercialized and will be made available through OEMs while Chromium OS will remain open for everyone to download and use, just like Ubuntu.

It’ll be nice if the netbooks are priced within US$200-300 since the hardware is negligible and everything happens over the Internet. If this concept becomes a hit and the price is kept low enough to lure consumers on a budget, we can definitely expect it to give a hard time for the smartphones around.
